Sarah’s love of pottery began with admiring the treasured ceramic collections of family members, many of which are now proudly displayed in her own home.
In 2022, she began creating pottery herself, discovering the pleasure of making beautiful, individual pieces for her home and friends. What started as a hobby quickly developed into a creative passion, leading Sarah to share her work at local markets and become one of the founding members of Teme Valley Artisans.

Original Handmade Soaps Inspired by Nature
Soaperstition is the creative business of Tegan and Harley, producing natural, handmade soaps and bath and body products inspired by British wildlife, traditional craftsmanship and a passion for the environment.
What makes Soaperstition particularly special is that Tegan designs and creates her own original soap moulds. Drawing on the specialist mould-making skills she developed during her Specialist Hair and Media Makeup degree, she transforms her own designs into beautifully detailed soaps inspired by the natural world.
This means the distinctive wildlife shapes are not simply poured into commercially purchased moulds. They begin with Tegan’s own creativity, design work and craftsmanship, making them genuinely individual creations.
When the pandemic disrupted opportunities in the film industry, Tegan put her specialist skills to a different use, developing a range of handcrafted soaps that combine artistry with everyday practicality.
Together, Tegan and Harley create products using essential oils and herbs rather than artificial fragrances, with an emphasis on carefully chosen ingredients and environmentally conscious practices.
Sustainability is central to Soaperstition’s approach, with plastic-free, biodegradable or recyclable packaging helping to reduce unnecessary waste.

Honest Forms, Earthy Textures
Based in the Herefordshire village of Dilwyn, near Leominster, Chris Smith creates distinctive handmade ceramics inspired by the natural beauty of clay, simple forms and earthy textures.
Chris’s journey with pottery began in 2000, studying under the late Deborah McCabe RA at studios in Marlborough and Devizes.
After moving to Herefordshire in 2005, he took a break from ceramics to restore a derelict barn near Ludlow, developing an even deeper appreciation for traditional craftsmanship and working with natural materials.
In 2015, Chris returned to pottery at Loudwater Studios, rediscovering his passion for clay. By 2020, he had established his own dedicated studio and kiln in Dilwyn.
What makes Chris’s ceramics particularly distinctive is his use of Craft Crank clay, valued for its warm, honey-coloured appearance, natural texture and robust character.
Working primarily with slab-building and moulding techniques, Chris creates functional and decorative pottery that celebrates the natural qualities of the material.
Every piece reflects his appreciation for simple, honest design, with the firing and glazing process bringing its own element of discovery.

MaLuNa Silver is the creative business of Nicky, an independent jewellery designer and silversmith working from her home workshop in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside.
What began as a passion for making jewellery for herself, family and friends has grown into a small business built around creativity, craftsmanship and a love of beautiful design.
Even the name has a special meaning. MaLuNa is inspired by Nicky’s three children – Matt, Luke and Natalie – who remain an important source of inspiration.
Nicky’s journey into silversmithing began when her children were young, learning traditional jewellery-making techniques through evening classes before gradually developing her own distinctive style.

Bohemian Spirit is the creative business of Nikki, a Teme Valley artist who creates vibrant, one-of-a-kind resin jewellery inspired by colour, movement and the natural world.
A lifelong creative, Nikki has explored many artistic techniques, from drawing and painting to mixed media. However, it was discovering resin that opened up an exciting new direction for her work.
What makes Bohemian Spirit particularly special is Nikki’s distinctive petri effect jewellery.
Using alcohol inks suspended within resin, Nikki creates beautiful swirling patterns, flowing colours and fascinating organic shapes that give each pendant its own individual character.
The process is both artistic and unpredictable. As the colours move and interact within the resin, they create intricate patterns that cannot be reproduced exactly.
No two pieces are ever the same, making each creation a truly individual piece of wearable art.

Soap Chef
Traditional Handmade Soaps Inspired by Nature
Soap Chef is the creation of Michael, a Teme Valley maker who produces traditional cold process soaps inspired by rural living, natural ingredients and the countryside surrounding his small farm.
After moving to the Teme Valley, Michael began experimenting with soap making, initially using olive oil, an ingredient he was already familiar with through cooking.
Through careful experimentation and refinement, he developed his own distinctive recipe containing 80% olive oil, producing a creamy, gentle soap using traditional cold process methods.
Each batch is carefully made and left to cure for at least four weeks, allowing the bars to harden and develop their finished character.
Natural fragrances inspired by the garden
Michael uses essential oils from aromatic plants including lavender, rose geranium, mint and thyme, drawing inspiration from plants he grows himself.
Each soap also features beautiful marbled patterns created using mineral colours, giving every bar its own individual appearance.
Packaging that grows into wildflowers
One of Soap Chef’s most unusual features is its thoughtful packaging.
Inspired by the native wildflower habitats Michael manages on his farm, the soaps are wrapped in seeded paper, handmade in the UK and embedded with British wildflower seeds.
Rather than simply throwing the wrapper away, customers can plant it and encourage wildflowers to grow, giving the packaging a second purpose while supporting wildlife and biodiversity.
From the carefully developed olive oil recipe to the plantable packaging, Soap Chef combines traditional soap-making skills with a genuine appreciation for the natural environment.
